Thousand Oaks
Thousand Oaks, CA
Interior Design // “Designer Nicole Hollis sometimes refers to this barn-ranch hybrid in Thousand Oaks, California, as a “branch,” while architect Bob Hale of Rios Clementi Hale Studios calls it a “modern traditional house.” Either way, it’s a capacious and gracious stunner, a 12,000-square-foot, three-structure compound loosely based on a farmhouse that’s been added to over time, except that this one is exceptionally spare in detailing, with steel-frame windows and minimal trim. … It’s all “very casual, relaxed, and super-real,” says Hollis, who worked closely with the client to stitch the sprawling residence together decoratively. The mode is more refined in the wing housing the master suite, its bathroom lined in luxe Calacatta gold marble. But outside, it’s back to convivial. The 3.5 acres, its landscaping of bay laurel and French lavender also by Rios Clementi Hale, includes a pool served by a pool house with an outdoor kitchen, dining area, and home gym.” — InteriorDesign.net
